Computer appears to hang using Pick From List due to hour glass not shown.

Cause:

This behavior occurs because hour glass is not displayed when Excel is creating and sorting the pick list. This behavior may last for some time, especially when the list is large. Therefore, the computer may APPEAR to have stopped responding.

Solution:

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Excel at this point.
